A Santa Cruz woman, with 21 years of experience working with local non-profits, will be the new leader of the downtown streets team in Santa Cruz. Brooke Newman will replace outgoing program manager Greg Pensinger, when Pensinger heads to Modesto this month….to lead the launch of the newest chapter (since the program’s inception in Palo Alto, back in 2005). The Downtown Streets Team Program invites homeless people to participate in volunteer community service clean-up efforts, in exchange for gift-cards and vouchers….while working with homeless people to assist them in getting jobs and housing.
