F.E.M.A. officials are warning residents in all 58 California counties that flooding is likely to threaten homes this winter. In Santa Cruz county 2 specific areas are: in Paradise Park, where the San Lorenzo River runs through; and the lower portions of Watsonville and Pajaro, near the Pajaro River. F.E.M.A. officials recommend getting flood insurance (if possible), moving valuables to higher levels and making sure to remove debris from gutters.
Officials also recommend staying informed, having an emergency kit and an evacuation plan.
