A kindergarten student, 5-year-old Ryan Varela, was recognized at his school by Watsonville police on Friday for helping a lost toddler. Ryan saw the child walking near the school without a parent and told a teacher, who brought the 3-year-old onto campus girl and called police.
Officers said that just after she was found, they received a report of a missing 3-year-old returned the child.
Officers went to Linscott Elementary to thank Ryan in front of his class for his quick action to help the missing girl.
