A woman surfer was airlifted to a trauma center yesterday after an accident off 38th Avenue near Pleasure Point in Santa Cruz. A witness said the woman was surfing around 2:30 when she fell from her surf board which then banged her face. She was initially thought to be not breathing, but she was breathing when rescuers arrived and loaded her into the helicopter for transport. No word on her condition today.
