A riot broke out this morning at Salinas Valley State Prison. That 8:30 A.M. incident came about 12 hours after an inmate was found dead in his cell.
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation says 33-year-old Armando Wehr was found unresponsive in his cell about 9 P.M. Monday in a maximum-security area of the prison.
No suspects have been identified and the incident is being treated as a homicide.
Several inmates were injured the morning fight at the prison in Soledad.
