A Monterey County judge sentenced 4 men convicted of illegally spearfishing in a Marine Reserve near Big Sur to jail time. On March 19th Ranger’s received a tip about illegal activity in the Big Creek State Marine Reserve. The men left the area when confronted and were apprehended nearby by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. Dennis Marshall Lewis, Darryl Lycurgus Lewis, Daniel Gordon Gross, and Nicholas Ta were sentenced to 30 days in jail and 3 years probation as well as a 1000 dollar fine.
