Campaign finances for the two groups on either side of the Santa Cruz rent control debate were released, showing a significant financial gap between the two. Advocates with Movement for Housing Justice, which proposed the rent control ordinance, raised roughly $30,000 in funding. The opposing group – Santa Cruz Citizens Against Costly Initiatives – raised more than $383,000. The issue is set to go to voters for the Nov. 6 election.
