Court proceedings began Thursday to determine whether a 16-year-old boy accused of murder will be tried as an adult. The teen is one of two people arrested in connection with gang-motivated shooting of a 26-year-old man on April 8 in Live Oak in Santa Cruz County. If the judge determines the teen can be rehabilitated in the juvenile system, he would not be tried as an adult.
