Commercial cannabis businesses in the Monterey County Regional Fire District will pay an annual tax after the voting results were certified on Measure H in last month’s election. The measure needed a two-thirds majority to be put into place and passed by a margin of 20 votes. The tax will help the fire district with cannabis business compliance. The ordinance is set to kick in August 1, but officials say it could take longer to prepare.
