The Santa Cruz Police Department provided information on enforcement of the citywide July 4th Safety Enhancement Zone. This year police responded to 435 calls for service, 74 of the calls were fireworks related. Overall, there were no significant incidents to report. Officers made 8 Misdemeanor Arrests- Most misdemeanor arrests were for being drunk in public. 27 Infractions Citations Issued- Majority of the citations were for open container. 15 Triple Fine Citations- Citations were mostly alcohol and fireworks related. 6 Parking Citation and 6 Vehicle Tows were initiated.
