Between now and Saturday (in the greater Monterey Bay area) there is an increased risk of sneaker waves, rip currents, and large shore breaks. Along with those warnings, there have been a number of sightings of great white sharks between Seacliff and New Brighton State Beaches. Some tips to staying safe at the beach include: choosing beaches with a life guard on-duty; staying within your comfort zone, and remaining as calm as possible if you get swept out by the ocean.
