A developer has submitted plans to construct a 6-story mixed-use (residential/commercial) building where a Taco Bell currently sits on the corner of Laurel Street And Pacific Avenue in Santa Cruz. It’s expected to be 85-feet tall, and include 205 residential units. Last year’s “Downtown Plan” update is what would allow this building to be 85-feet tall. Along with that building, a preliminary application has also been made to combine a number of adjacent parcels and build another 6-story mixed-use development on front street behind the Santa Cruz Metro Station. If approved by the city, this 70-foot tall building is the first riverside development proposed in years.
