The arraignment for the teen accused of killing 8 year-old Santa Cruz resident Maddy Middleton has been continued. The attorney for 18 year-old A.J. Gonzalez plans to appeal the 2017 judge’s decision to try Gonzalez as an adult for the 2015 sexual assault and killing. To that end he requested extra time so he could properly file all of the necessary information into the new electronic system. The arraignment is now scheduled to continue may 14th, in a Santa Cruz Superior Court room.
