A man has been arrested for starting the Bear Fire in Boulder Creek. In a press release today by the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Department authorities announced the investigation and subsequent arrest of 54 year old Marlon Coy on multiple types arson as well as other charges. The Bear Fire that is now fully contained began the evening of October 16th in Boulder Creek. The fire burned 391 acres, and caused the destruction of multiple vehicles and structures. There were thirteen firefighter injuries, one of whom remains hospitalized with serious injuries. Coy was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail; his bail is set at $800,000.
