A person was arrested this morning in Salinas. Maria Alvarez is believed to be involved with a drug-smuggling operation in Monterey county jail. Alvarez joins 4 other people, who have already been booked into Monterey county jail on drug-smuggling charges. Additionally, Alvarez faces charges of child endangerment….after she stored methamphetamine near a 3 year-old child.
