The public’s assistance is being sought in keeping the National Oceanic And Atmospheric Administration (also known as N-O-A-A) apprised of the whereabouts of a tangled whale. The whale was spotted this afternoon off of Piedras Blancas with a metal frame on its head. Although people are being asked not to try and disentangle the gray whale, they are asked to call the Entangled Whale Hotline if they see the whale. The whale is expected to be off Point Pinos tomorrow afternoon or Friday. People are also asked to note the whale’s direction of travel and whether it’s with others. NOAA’s Entangled Whale Hotline number is 1-877-SOS-whale.
