August 31, 2016: Farmer Ordered To Pay

(23:20) ROYAL OAKS – A  now-defunct  North  Monterey  County strawberry farm,  and  its  president,   have  been  ordered  to  pay  more  than  a  million  dollars  in back  wages.    That’s  because  Gonzalvo  Fernandez  (of  Fernandez  Farms)  was  found guilty  of  systematic  wage  theftintimidation,  and  “blatant  disregard”  of  the  H-2a  Visa  (Agricultural Guest-Worker  Program).  The violations  impacted  more  than  400  people  during  the  2010-2011  growing  season  alone.
