(10:30) Santa Cruz – A child who is fighting a serious illness was sworn in as an Honorary Deputy by Sheriff Jim Hart on Saturday, June 30, at the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office. 8 –year- old Nicky Draper has had a wish of becoming a Deputy Sheriff. That wish was fulfilled when Draper arrived at the station and was presented with a uniform, a custom badge, and participated in a mock arrest.
