(17:44) CALIFORNIA+ – The widow of civil rights’ leader Cesar Chavez has passed away. Helen Chavez was 88 years-old when she died yesterday, surrounded by many of their children, grandchildren, and great grand children. Helen Chavez tended to keep a low profile, and did not often speak in public (or in the media), although she did make some public appearances to honor her husband and his cause. One of those was last year at Cesar Chavez’s graveside, when he was finally bestowed with a posthumous military honor. Cesar Chavez died in Arizona back in 1993.
