June 5, 2016: Monterey Co Fire Prompts Evacuations

(12:28) KING CITY- A South Monterey County wildfire has prompted the Sheriff’s office to order evacuations. The Coleman fire started around 2:30 p.m. Saturday near Mission Creek and Milpitas roads, north of Fort Hunter Liggett. Evacuations were ordered for Reliz Canyon, Monroe Canyon and the upper Pine Canyon Road areas. The 3500 acre blaze is threatening over 120 structures and has spread to Los Padres National Forest. The fire now has the potential to spread into the Ventana Wilderness area where it could grow up to 35,000 acres. An evacuation center is in place at Grace Lutheran Church at 205 Canal Street in KIng City. At this time the fire is at zero percent containment.
