(08:51) SALINAS – Salinas police officers are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a scammer, after he fleeced a 21 year-old Salinas man. The scammer “rented a home on Kilbreth Street” that was not available to be rented….”signing a contract” with the 21 year-old and collecting a cash deposit. The scammer who was described as a 5-foot 10-inch tall, thin, clean-shaven, green-eyed, Hispanic man in his 30’s, who was driving a white ford expedition, gave the 21 year-old keys and a garage door opener. When the 21 year-old went to the home, he found that the keys didn’t work and he met the true owner who told him the house was not for rent. By then, the scammer’s phone had been disconnected.
