(07:23) SANTA CRUZ – A warming shelter is opening its doors in Santa Cruz Tuesday night. The community-organized Warming Center Program is activated when temperatures fall below 36 degrees or rain persists for over two days. Those in need of shelter will meet between 7 and 10 p.m. at Pearl Alley and Lincoln Street before being shuttled to the warming center at the Quaker Meetinghouse. Community members are needed to help with the shuttle, overnight monitoring, morning laundry, cleanup, and cooking. Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to contact Brent Adams at compassionman@hotmail.com . (S.G.)
