December 28, 2015: California Minimum Wage to Rise to $10 an Hour

(08:58) CALIFORNIA – California’s minimum wage will soon be raised to $10 an hour. Beginning January 1, California will join 13 other states that are raising their minimum wage rates. Both California and Massachusetts will increase their rates from $9 to $10, making them the first two states in the nation to reach a double-digit minimum wage. A number of groups are pushing to raise the rate to the livable wage of $15 an hour.  State officials say metropolitan areas, such as San Francisco, will have minimum wages up to $15 an hour by 2020.
