December 28, 2015: Several Gun Safety Laws to Go Into Effect in California

(06:58) CALIFORNIA – Several laws focusing on gun safety will soon go into effect in California. Beginning January 1, residents will be subject to SB 199, SB 707, as well as AB 1014.  The first law will require airsoft guns to have specific features that distinguish them as toys. SB 707 will expand the Gun Free School Zone Act to include gun owners with conceal and carry permits. The third law will enable family members to prevent an at-risk relative from owning a gun. Expanding on state gun laws, Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom has proposed a 2016 ballot initiative that would ban high capacity magazines and require background checks for ammunition purchases.
