December 22, 2015 – Grand jury discovers mistakes by CPS in child murder case

(1920) SALINAS/MONTEREY – The grand jury handling the Salinas child murder case has identified several flaws in the procedures of Monterey County Child Protective Services prior to law enforcement’s discovery of the murder of two children and the torture of another child. One witness, who was not named, reportedly called Monterey County Department of Social Services to report child neglect to Child Protective Services agents. The estranged husband of suspect Tami Huntsman also said he contacted CPS after discovering Huntsman was having an affair with an underage boy. Social Services agents did not respond, he said.
