(09:22) GILROY – A man died in Gilroy early Wednesday morning after leading CHP officers on a high speed chase. The pursuit began when officers attempted to pull over a driver for a traffic violation on Highway 101. The man failed to stop and led CHP on a chase, reaching speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. The driver then crashed into a patrol vehicle after exiting Highway 280. He was transported to the hospital with major injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after. His female passenger was treated for minor injuries. One officer involved in the pursuit also sustained minor injuries after crashing into a road sign. The incident is under investigation. (S.G.)
