(07:25) CENTRAL COAST – The public is being encouraged to nominate individuals for the 2015 Veteran of the Year award. Assemblyman Luis Alejo is seeking nominations for applicants who have demonstrated exemplary military service, community service and support for veterans in the community. The nominee must be an active or retired veteran of one of the five U.S. Armed Forces, including Reserve or National Guard, or the United States Merchant Marines. Nominated veterans must also live within San Benito County, Salinas Valley, North Monterey County, South Santa Clara or Watsonville. Nominations will be accepted until 5 p.m. on October 23.
