(07:49) MONTEREY COUNTY – A Marina man has been sentenced for worker’s compensation fraud and tax evasion. Last October, officers conducted an employer compliance check at La Sirenita Tree Service, owned by 45-year-old Felipe DeJesus Olvera. Following an investigation, Olvera was arrested for submitting false information in order to obtain a lower worker’s compensation insurance premium. He also failed to file payroll tax returns. Olvera has been placed on probation for five years and will serve 4 months in jail. He has also been ordered to pay over $12,000 in fines and restitution. (S.G.)
