(07:35) SALINAS – The death of an inmate at Monterey County Jail is under investigation. The 24-year-old man was found unresponsive in his cell on Wednesday around 3 p.m. The victim was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The man had been in custody for three weeks prior to the incident. An autopsy to determine cause of death is pending. (S.G.)
