(21:10) SALINAS- The Monterey County Food Bank is teaming up with the Salinas City Elementary School District to provide weekend nutrition to children and their families. Statistics show that as many as 30 percent of the districts students are homeless. A spokesperson for the new program called Kids NOW says although while the majority of students nutritional needs are met during the week, in a community that has an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables it should be possible to meet the weekends needs as well. On Friday 400 bags of food were sent home at Sherwood Elementary where 50 percent of students are homeless.
