(06:50) SALINAS – A Salinas man was recently found in possession of a large cache of illegal weapons. Late last week, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Desmond Road following a report of a suicidal subject. 51-year-old Edward Salinas was apprehended at the scene. A search of the man’s home recovered numerous firearms, including an automatic submachine gun, an assault rifle, a shotgun, and several handguns. Deputies also found knives, brass knuckles, fully loaded magazines, and several thousand rounds of ammunition. Salinas was transported to the hospital for evaluation. The case has been forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review. (S.G.)
