(12:31) SANTA CRUZ – The County of Santa Cruz took steps toward improving jail facilities for female inmates on Tuesday. The county is pursing state funds to build a $27.2 million women’s facility to be located at the Rountree Complex in South County. If the grant application for the proposal is approved, the 56-bed facility would be built using SB 863 funds. The new women’s facility will include a medical and mental health clinic space, rooms for inmate classes, and an intake facility.
