July 16, 2015: California’s Public Water Supplies Contain High Levels of Contaminants, According to USGS Survey

(09:52) CALIFORNIA – High levels of contaminants are being found in California’s public water supplies, according to a new study released by the U.S. Geological Survey. The report shows that one-fifth of raw groundwater contains high levels of arsenic, uranium, and other potentially harmful elements. Researchers believe one cause is the draining of farm irrigation into underground water aquifers. The study tested samples from 11,000 public water wells over the course of 10 years. (S.G.)
