(09:17) SALINAS – A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for a Salinas man charged with assault and resisting arrest. Last month, 28-year-old Jose Velasco was detained after allegedly attacking his mother. During his arrest, Velasco reportedly removed a police officer’s taser and assaulted a firefighter. Velasco is due back in court August 27 for his preliminary hearing. He faces up to five years in prison, if convicted. (S.G.)
