(09:46) SANTA CRUZ – A Santa Cruz man has been arrested for several felony charges including possession of a stolen firearm and hit and run. Police received a report of a collision near Delaware and Fair streets around 6 p.m. Saturday. A Ford Focus being driven by 20-year-old Gilberto Uribe allegedly hit a Volvo before fleeing the scene. The driver of the Volvo then followed Uribe to the area of California and Trescony streets. Uribe was seen throwing away a backpack before police arrived. Officers located the backpack and found a loaded rifle inside. The firearm had been reported stolen out of Santa Clara County. Uribe was also found in possession of stolen credit cards. He was booked into county jail. (S.G.)
