June 18, 2015: Spike In Local Stolen Cars

(21:45) SACRAMENTO– According to a report released by the California Highway Patrol vehicle thefts across the state are down by nearly seven percent overall. However the report also states that car thefts in Monterey and Santa Cruz counties have gone up. Monterey county stolen car reports increased nine percent in 2014 while Santa Cruz County had one of the largest increases in the state with a rise of over 14 percent in vehicle thefts. The CHP says people in these areas should remember to lock there cars and to never hide a spare key on the vehicle.
