June 16, 2015: South Monterey County Law Enforcement Agencies Collaborate to Combat Gang Violence

(09:01) SOUTH MONTEREY COUNTY– A number of law enforcement agencies in South Monterey County are collaborating to suppress gang violence. The new collective includes deputies from the Monterey County Sheriff’s Department, as well as officers from Greenfield, King City, Soledad and Gonzales. The goal of the South County Violence Suppression Collaboration is to share information and develop plans to fight gang crime. The collaboration coincides with the dismantling the Monterey County Gang Task Force. On Monday, the Salinas Police Department and Monterey County Sheriff’s Office agreed to disband the task force on July 1 due to lack of funding. (S.G.)
