(11:50) SALINAS– Salinas elementary schools have surveillance cameras on most campuses. An official says thirteen of the schools are equipped with a 159 cameras. A fourteenth campus will go on line in August bringing the total of cameras to 197. The school district has openly installed the cameras which help deal with issues such as bullying and vandalism in real time or as a forensic tool. Funds for the system come from a federal grant which is matched by the districts general fund.
