May 31, 2015: Prominent UCSC Astronomer Dies

(09:46) SANTA CRUZ– A prominent local astronomer passed away last week. Doctor Robert Kraft died on May 26th from pneumonia due to a recent stroke. Kraft graduated from the University Of Washington before receiving a PH.D. in Astronomy from UC Berkeley in 1955. Kraft came to Santa Cruz in 1967 after accepting a position as a Professor Emeritus of Astronomy and Astrophysics at UCSC. Kraft was also a former Director of the University of California Observatories. Kraft was 87 years old.
