(Updated at 11:33) – A man is in stable but serious condition following a crash in Santa Cruz early Wednesday morning. Officials say the 23-year-old UCSC student was riding his bicycle when he ran into the side of a truck crossing the intersection at Mission Street and Western Drive. He reportedly was not wearing a helmet and did not have a bike light. The victim was airlifted to a Bay Area trauma center, where he is currently recovering. The truck driver has not been charged. The investigation is ongoing.

Officials say a car struck a bicyclist near the intersection of Mission Street and Western Drive shortly before 3 a.m. The victim was airlifted to a Bay Area trauma center.
