The Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team has reported a rise in heroin trafficking. Officials say they have seized over 4 kilos of the drug this year, which is more than what has been recovered in the past five years combined. The narcotics task force has recently arrested two high-ranking heroin dealers. 41-year-old Hilario Garcia and 36-year-old Mortolo Navarro were apprehended last month after being found in possession of over 6 pounds of heroin. The Anti-Crime Team says demand for the drug has surged, as the transition from prescription drugs to heroin becomes more common among addicts.
