Environmental groups filed a lawsuit yesterday to stop oil industries from injecting wastewater into wells across California. Currently, state officials are rolling out emergency regulations that would allow the practice to continue for another two years. The suit is asking officials to stop the practice altogether, saying more should be done to protect groundwater during the drought crisis. State and federal officials say they are testing wells that pose a risk to consumers and have shut down over 20 operations so far.
