The Prisoner Hunger Strike Solidarity Coalition and Sin Barras will host a West Cliff Candlelight Vigil tonight. This is the first response to a proposal from prisoners in Pelican Bay State Prison to end solitary confinement for prisoners statewide. A candlelight vigil will take place on the cliffs along with a rally and mock solitary confinement cell in mobilization to end solitary confinement. Future actions will be held on the 23 of each month, with the number symbolizing the 23 hours per day prisoners spend in complete isolation in their cells. Those interested are encouraged to attend the gathering at 5:30 p.m. at the lighthouse lawn on West Cliff Drive in Santa Cruz, with the Rally beginning at 6 p.m. and the Candlelight Vigil at 7.
