A new study by the US Geological Survey revealed that California has a 7% chance of experiencing a significant quake over the next 30 years. According to the Third Uniform California Earthquake Rupture Forecast or UCERF3, California’s likelihood of experiencing an 8 magnitude earthquake or larger in the next 30 years has increased from about 4.7% to about 7%. THE UCERF3 model gives residents and leaders the opportunity to be informed and prepared for one of these quakes.
