King City officials have voted to rebuild their police force. Yesterday, the city council rejected a proposal that would have allowed the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office to take over the operation of their police department. King City officials had reached out to the sheriff’s office following a scandal that led to the arrests of six officers including its police chief. The city is now planning to hire a new chief and increase salaries in an effort to improve the police department. Four candidates for chief will be interviewed today.
