Possible Sardine Ban – 03/10/15 08:00 MK

The number of Sardines living along the Pacific Coast has been decreasing, and that could lead to a fishing ban off the west coast. Federal regulators released a draft report last week which showed that there were not enough fish left to sustain the fishery. If independent experts find these reports to be accurate, it could cause the Pacific Fishery Management Council to cancel the 2015 commercial sardine fishing season. The level of Sardines have decreased since 2007 when there were over a million metric tons, projections for 2015 say they would fall below 150 thousand metric tons.
