As Spring approaches, Santa Cruz County health agencies are warning residents about ticks. Ticks are found in forested areas, brush, and high grass, and can carry Lyme disease. Residents are encouraged to examine themselves and their children, especially on the scalp and hairline, after spending time in tick habitat. Dogs and horses should also be checked. There were five reported cases of Lyme disease in Santa Cruz County last year. More information can be found at agdept.com .
