Federal lawmakers from California have reintroduced legislation that would index Obamacare subsidies to a patient’s living costs. Representatives Anna Eshoo and Mike Thompson have proposed health care subsidies be valued in accordance with new measures that impact local housing costs. While the Affordable Care Act supports millions of low to middle-income Americans, those living in high-cost areas are unable to benefit from Obamacare because they have surpassed the income threshold to qualify. If approved, the bill would take into account housing costs and raise the income cap to make more residents on the Central Coast eligible for healthcare.
