Monterey county sheriff’s deputies arrested a man after a high speed chase last week. The incident took place shortly after midnight Thursday morning when a patrol unit attempted a traffic stop on highway 183 near Castroville, the suspect vehicle made an abrupt u-turn and a high speed chase ensued ending when the car crashed into a guardrail in Castroville. The suspect fled on foot threatening to kill a pedestrian who attempted to intervene on behalf of the deputies. Officers apprehended 24 year old Orozco in a nearby back yard. A female passenger was detained and released after it was determined she was being held against her will. Orozco was booked into county jail on evading arrest, kidnapping, making criminal threats, and outstanding warrants.
