Highway 1 in Monterey was closed on Saturday due to ruptured gas line. CHP officials say that shortly before noon a tractor broke a 2 inch gas pipe on the 600 block of Viejo Road. The highway was closed to Northbound traffic at Aguajito Road in Carmel and to Southbound traffic at Munras Avenue in Monterey while utility crews performed repairs.
